Baju Dan Cat...

As a government servant, we are bound to certain laws and latest circulars. The most popular one is the circular that stated that we need to wear 'baju batik' on every Thursday of every week. Indeed an angel in disguise, it gives me reason to buy new silk just to add to my stash :) So, last week, I wore my new 'kebaya batik' to school. Before this, the only 'kebaya' that I have is my engagement 'kebaya', nikah 'kebaya', and kenduri 'kebaya'. The kenduri kebaya is my fave one because the material is the original 'songket bunga tabur', a real classic one. Last year I started to tempah few kebaya's because I find this malay tailor at Kemaman, that sew a really nice kebaya at a resonable price. Back to my new sutera kebaya, on that Thursday, I wore it with my munawwarah (of course!). I bought the matching selendang T before I sent the fabric to the tailor. I still remember the hurdles that I gone through just to get the matching munawwarah. So, I felt that I was presentable more than ever on that day. Few teachers even asked me where did I got the 'kain sutera' and so on and on (bertambah terangkat lah makcik). After all the asking and answering session, I had a year 3 class to attend to. When I entered the class, all pupils were looking at me because that is our first week of school so everything felt so new. Later on, all the pupils recited their du'a. Then, when the reciting has finished, the unexpected thing happened...

"Teacher, kenapa baju Teacher tu kena cat? Guane jadi gitu?"

Alahai, anak muridku...baju Teacher yg mahal ni bukan kena cat daa! I spent like 5 minutes just to clear out the confusion that the 'cat' thing on my kebaya is just part of the print's design. The best part was, there is this talkative girl who suddenly came to me and started to check out my 'kebaya' closely then asked about this and that. Then, more kids came out! It took 5 minutes of explanation because of the non-stop pouring of questioning. When a pupil starts a conversation, ten more pupils will follow suit, simply asking the same question...And, it's my job to repeat the same answer for God knows how many times :). Children, sometimes they blurt unexpected remarks on anything and most of the time their comments are as sincere as their gazes. Well, I guess I can live with that, and it is not that bad.

Take a peek at the 'cat' on my kebaya...srot...srot

My Third Dose of Munawwarah

Well, after months of contemplating a trip to Sri Munawwarah, I got to go to Munawwarah twice this week. Talk about being extravagant :). On last Monday, I went there with my twins sister. If I brought Mr Vediaz with me, it will make me feel guilty for making him waiting for me. I spent like 3 consecutive hours over there. Not to mention how much money I'd spent. First, I entered Number 14, then went to Number 16. After that Number 14 again. Back and forth. But, the Maisara limited edition tudung is so lovely. I got myself just one Maisara because the left prints were all quite dark tone. But, I'm definitely getting more of Maisara...Bila lah agaknya? Well, after all the spending, I got 3 Tudung Lina, 2 of it are from the festive collection, 3 Tudung Ameera, and 1 Tudung Maisara. I also bought a Jubah which suit with my new Maisara. Couldn't refrain myself. The jubah was on sale.

The exclusive ones are on top and below are Tudung Lina.

My Second Dose of Munawwarah

Last weekend, Mr Vediaz, Dinky Aeisyah and me went back to my grandfather's house at Sepang, Negeri Sembilan. We departed on Saturday because I have this extra class with Year Six pupils. Even my family was there. My emak, Atih, Min, who was showing off his new Honda, Nana, who wouldn't let Dinky Aeisyah touch her books, Wawa and Yaya. My eldest brother, Along, wasn't there because he was at his in-laws. On Sunday, without wasting my time, Mr Vediaz brought me to Sri Munawwarah as he promised before. I spent like two hours in there! I couldn't decide which tudungs to buy. I actually brought few clothes so that I could match the clothes with the tudungs. However, there was no 'hijau lumut' tudung. So, I need to re-match the clothes and the tudungs. I also bought some pins, brooch and two hair bands. I even met with Kak Haslina Ali fo Sri Munawwarah. She's so soft spoken! And she speaks flawless English along with a Brits slang. I asked her about when she's going to restock certain colour and she said that it's hard to say really. Whenever she put up new pieces at the boutique, usually they all gone in a day. Can you believe that! Unlucky me... Speaking of Munawwarah's tudung, there few people who said that their tudungs are kind of overpriced than the others that are being sold at the market. Not to me though. The tudung is expensive but an exceptional one. So, ladies, what do you have to say about this?

Responds on My Munaw

Wore it to the PTA (Parents & Teacher Association) meeting last Saturday...that was my first time.....

Teacher Husni : You like Pn. Robiah, a motivational speaker. She wore something similar to you.

Teacher Salina : Oooohhh, so this is 'tudung munawwarah'. I want one too! I think Wardina wore this 'tudung' when she pose for Astro View cover. I'll bring the copy this Monday.

Ustazah Rasidah : Lawa tudung!

This morning, I wore it to school and showed it off during the weekly assembly (hehehe). The responds were...

Ustazah Huda : Eehh, macam baru balik Mekah.

Teacher Azlina : Is this your new image? I like it!

Teacher Akma : How many Munawwarah scarf do you have? (emm, actually just two 'tudung T belah')

Teacher Salina : Buy me one whenever you go to Munawwarah, OK!

Now, the pupils' responds....

Pupil 1 : Teacher nampak lain lah today.

Pupil 2 : Teacher nampak lawa la. ( Actually, the tudung is lawa, not me :p)

My mischievous class, 2 Pintar (I'm their class teacher)...

Fazdilah : Eh, ada cikgu baru lah kat sekolah ni.

Hakim : Teacher beli tudung baru ye?

Amierol : Nampak macam...NENEK! (Aiyoo)

Tomorrow, I will resume my 'tudung bawal'. I guess, no more respond. Not until I buy myself a new 'tudung' :). Need to go, loads of Year 6 papers need marking.

My Dose of Sri Munawwarah

Last weekend hubby brought me to Sri Munawwarah at TTDI. I've been eyeing the Munawarrah headscarf like 5 years ago. Aaaaa.....finally. Couldn't describe how blissful I was when I entered the Munawwarah's doorstep. I bought 2 tudung T and 2 anak tudung. I've been wearing the anak tudung to school for two days now and I like it despite you need to get used on wearing it. The Munawwarah workers told me that they usually organize a workshop on how to wear their scarf. If only I'm staying in KL, I would surely go.....
