Tudung...Oh...Tudung

I'm prepping Dinky Aeisyah en route to Sri Munawwarah FANATIC! Even though she is wearing an Indonesian version, she looks cute (Sorry! Bragging sket) without looking like a 'bibik'. I bought this 'tudung' from my collegue at the school. Well, too bad SM hasn't made any child friendly selendang! Kalau tak, runtuh lah kedai SM kena serbu. Mr Vediaz has suggested that I sew a tudung for Dinky Aeisyah. Kena tengok yahap kerajinan dulu yer...

"Ini satu jari namanya, kawan-kawan"

Lentuk sket!

Maisy's Year time..."What does Charley catch?"

Well, you can basically sell anything to teachers! I've seen it happens starting from my mom in the 80's! Right now, at my school there is a Vantage 'kutu', Vision 'kutu', you name it. At least, the teachers are saving up for the household items. Today, I heard the funniest purchase ever...

Teacher 1 : Mende yg korang pernah beli kat sekolah?
Teacher 2 : Semua mende lah sampai Pak Abu (her husband) naik tak paham. Hahaha!
Teacher 1 : Ingat tak cikgu ni yadaa yadaa yadaa.
Ustazah 3 : Mesti ingat punyer! Penjual teragung!
Teacher 2 : Paling tak lupa, HANGER pun aku beli! Macam dah takde mende nak beli!

HANGER???? Takpe lah...asal korang happy bershopping!

New Header!

Akhirrrrnnyaaaa! I had finished my header! Leganyer makcik. I asked my brother to do the heading when I was back at Kuala Terengganu but we were sooo busy with 'kenduri', 'lepak-lepak' and eating most of the time, he didn't get the chance to do it. My brother is quite familiar with photoshop compared to me whom only understand the principle of layer but not knowing how to that! The header is quite simple and I used a scrapbook software to it. Alright, it's time to sign off now, need to get my much needed sleep. Tomorrow I have a choral speaking rehearsal with my students. We have a competiton on this Thursday. Wish us luck guys!

Baju Dan Cat...

As a government servant, we are bound to certain laws and latest circulars. The most popular one is the circular that stated that we need to wear 'baju batik' on every Thursday of every week. Indeed an angel in disguise, it gives me reason to buy new silk just to add to my stash :) So, last week, I wore my new 'kebaya batik' to school. Before this, the only 'kebaya' that I have is my engagement 'kebaya', nikah 'kebaya', and kenduri 'kebaya'. The kenduri kebaya is my fave one because the material is the original 'songket bunga tabur', a real classic one. Last year I started to tempah few kebaya's because I find this malay tailor at Kemaman, that sew a really nice kebaya at a resonable price. Back to my new sutera kebaya, on that Thursday, I wore it with my munawwarah (of course!). I bought the matching selendang T before I sent the fabric to the tailor. I still remember the hurdles that I gone through just to get the matching munawwarah. So, I felt that I was presentable more than ever on that day. Few teachers even asked me where did I got the 'kain sutera' and so on and on (bertambah terangkat lah makcik). After all the asking and answering session, I had a year 3 class to attend to. When I entered the class, all pupils were looking at me because that is our first week of school so everything felt so new. Later on, all the pupils recited their du'a. Then, when the reciting has finished, the unexpected thing happened...

"Teacher, kenapa baju Teacher tu kena cat? Guane jadi gitu?"

Alahai, anak muridku...baju Teacher yg mahal ni bukan kena cat daa! I spent like 5 minutes just to clear out the confusion that the 'cat' thing on my kebaya is just part of the print's design. The best part was, there is this talkative girl who suddenly came to me and started to check out my 'kebaya' closely then asked about this and that. Then, more kids came out! It took 5 minutes of explanation because of the non-stop pouring of questioning. When a pupil starts a conversation, ten more pupils will follow suit, simply asking the same question...And, it's my job to repeat the same answer for God knows how many times :). Children, sometimes they blurt unexpected remarks on anything and most of the time their comments are as sincere as their gazes. Well, I guess I can live with that, and it is not that bad.

Take a peek at the 'cat' on my kebaya...srot...srot

UPSR....

UPSR result was out yesterday. I was nerve wrecked the whole morning, waiting my headmistress to arrive from the district education office, along with the school's result. Alhamdulillah, out from 107 candidates, we have 8 5A's scorer. It is a small number compared to an urban school but last year we only had 3 5A's scorer. Apart from that, the number of students who scored A in English is increase by 6%. Those night classes were paid off! Well, because of this flying colours result, I will be teaching English Year 6 for UPSR 2009. To all my pupils who done very well in UPSR 2007, I wish you all the best in your upcoming future...sob...sob...I'll be missing you guys!

Finally....School Holiday

Yaayy! It's already school holiday....these are my pupils from year 2 and I was their invigilator for their last exam's paper. Can't tell you how agitated they were just to finish the exam.

The papers that I need to mark during the school holiday. Apart from marking, I have a one day course (bollocks) and 2 days of year six extra class. So much for a school holiday...sigh...

Aahh...the much awaited school holiday except mine is full with school's work for the first week. It is the norm for the year 6 teachers. At least my weekends are going to be "Cuti-cuti Malaysia" road trip. The second weekend is "Cuti-cuti Malaysia" to Johor. Mr. Vediaz's best friend is getting married so this wedding is on top of the list, first priority to be exact. The third weekend is Mr. Vediaz's Family Day at Negeri Sembilan. By the way, his company is organising a Treasure Hunt drive on the departure day. Ehhmm...should we enter the hunt or not? I like the idea of sticking the Treasure Hunt sticker on our car but to think the hassle to decipher the clues given, looking for the next clue are actually not our thing. Can we just stick the sticker but 'cabut lari' ?

Happy Teachers Day!

Yesterday was 16th of May. It was the only day to celebrate all the teachers across the nation, and it includes ME! The day started as any usual day except that all the pupils didn't have to bring their textbook burden school bag. All they need to bring were their present(s) or card(s). First, we, the teachers, had a morning assembly at the assembly compound along with the pupils. The teacher in charge started with songs recital followed by pupil's performances which were Dikir Barat and Malay Choir. After that, the teachers were bombarded with students who wanted to give their presents. Afterwards, there was 'Sukaneka' but I didn't participate :) It was my pumping time LOL. The day was wrapped up with lunch at the school canteen.

The hampers. Eight of them were bought by me. Each teacher got one of those hampers.

While the teacher were having their lunch, the pupils were buying at the canteen.

My pressies!

I would like to dedicate this poem to all my teachers whom had taught me.

Teachers
Paint their minds
and guide their thoughts
Share their achievements
and advise their faults
Inspire a Love
of knowledge and truth
As you light the path
Which leads our youth
For our future brightens
with each lesson you teach
Each smile you lengthen
Each goal you help reach
For the dawn of each poet
each philosopher and king
Begins with a Teacher
And the wisdom they bring

English Workshop

Today, my school's English Panel organized a workshop for our Year 6 students. Our Speaker was Mrs. Lam, a pensioner with 15 years of teaching Year 6 English. After she pensioned, she also comes out with her own book, specifically on how to score an A for UPSR's English paper. Talk about multitasking! Way to go Mrs. Lam!

The pupil's are paying their attention to Mrs. Lam's explanation on Paper 1. (They better be!)
